چکیده
Abstract. We investigate the temporal variations of ground-level ozone and balloon-based profiles at Pohang (36.02? N, 129.23? E) in Korean Peninsula. Satellite measurements chemical reanalysis products are also intercompared to address their capability providing consistent information on vertical variability atmospheric ozone. Sub-seasonal summertime lower-tropospheric exhibit a bimodal pattern related weather patterns modulated by East Asian monsoon circulation. The peak abundances occur during pre-summer with enhanced formation due favorable meteorological conditions (dry sunny). Ozone concentrations reach minimum summer then re-emerge autumn before winter arrives. Profile indicate that is vertically mixed up 400 hPa summer, while impact dilution found 600 hPa. Compared satellite measurements, largely overestimate both troposphere stratosphere give inconsistent features variations. Nadir-viewing from Monitoring Instrument (OMI) slightly underestimate boundary layer but represent peaks lower interannual changes August well, higher strong El Niño events low 2020 La Niña event.

Impacts of the East Asian monsoon on lower tropospheric ozone over coastal South China
The impact of the East Asian monsoon (EAM) on climatology and interannual variability of tropospheric ozone (O3) over the coastal South China was investigated by analyzing 11 years of ozonesonde data over Hong Kong with the aid of Lagrangian dispersion modeling of carbon monoxide and calculation of an EAM index. It was found that the seasonal cycle of O3 in the lower troposphere is highly relat...
متن کاملImpact of variability in the Indian summer monsoon on the East Asian summer monsoon
We report on model experiments that support the hypothesis that the second mode of variability of the East Asian Summer Monsoon is influenced by the variability of the Indian Summer Monsoon. The results suggest that the recent trend towards drier conditions in northern China in summer is, at least partly, a consequence of the synchronous drying trend over India in summer noted by some authors. ...
متن کاملEast Asian summer monsoon precipitation variability since the last deglaciation
The lack of a precisely-dated, unequivocal climate proxy from northern China, where precipitation variability is traditionally considered as an East Asian summer monsoon (EASM) indicator, impedes our understanding of the behaviour and dynamics of the EASM. Here we present a well-dated, pollen-based, ~20-yr-resolution quantitative precipitation reconstruction (derived using a transfer function) ...
متن کاملObserved vertical distribution of tropospheric ozone during the Asian summertime monsoon
[1] We characterize the horizontal and vertical distribution of tropospheric ozone measured by the Tropospheric Emission Spectrometer (TES) over North Africa, the Middle East, and Asia. Studies have shown that the summertime circulation associated with the Asian monsoon significantly influences the spatial distribution of ozone and its precursors. However, there have been limited observations o...
متن کاملStratospheric variability and tropospheric ozone
[1] Changes in the stratosphere-troposphere exchange (STE) of ozone over the last few decades have altered the tropospheric ozone abundance and are likely to continue doing so in the coming century as climate changes. Combining an updated linearized stratospheric ozone chemistry (Linoz v2) with parameterized polar stratospheric clouds (PSCs) chemistry, a 5-year (2001–2005) sequence of the Europ...
